What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag



As doulas, we support many clients who are giving birth in a hospital. After delivery, Mama and Baby stay in the hospital for at least 24 hours, and for some families, the stay could be longer.


So, here are our recommendations for what to pack in your hospital bag:


Baby Care

  • Newborn-sized onesies

  • Baby body wash that uses safer ingredients

  • Diapers that use safer ingredients

  • Wipes that use safer ingredients


Breastfeeding Accessories

  • Haakaa pump

  • Nursing tank tops

  • Breastfeeding pillow

  • Silverettes


Clothing

  • Slippers and/or socks

  • Pajamas/gowns from home (hospital gowns aren’t required to be worn)

  • Going home outfit for mom & baby

  • Robe


Miscellaneous

  • Birth Vision

  • Blankets

  • Phone chargers

  • Snacks/meals for Mama and any loved ones in the room


Personal Care Items

  • Unmedicated chapstick

  • Makeup, if you desire

  • Lotions

  • Deodorant


Bonus
